The Zone Furtive drawings could be tracing a drift in an ecosystem with vast expanses, kinds of complex atmospheres made of a multitude of strata and situations. An omnipresent confusion – as far as scale and subjects’ representation are concerned – makes the reading of the images blurry. The series could come from an observation device flying over an uneven topography, from which a collection of snapshots have been stolen. Black fogs act as insertions of a virus contaminating the images, saturating or erasing them.
The launch of the book Zone Furtive (TSAR Edition, Vevey CH) will take place during the opening of Guillaume Dénervaud’s first solo show at Balice Hertling’s Belleville gallery space.
In dialogue with Guillaume Dénervaud’s drawings, the book includes two short stories: Marc von Schlegell’s Coming of Age: Robotics and Barbara Sirieix’ Callum Hills.
