Will Benedict
Between different media, Will Benedict works within a process of deconstruction, hybridization, and recomposition of the image, engaging critically and often humorously with popular media, commercial production, and advertising, creating a kind of semiotics of consumption and its symbology. Benedict’s paintings and collages frequently are structured as reframings, “interiors inside interiors, windows inside windows, doorways that you can go through,” he says, which complicates his works and instills in them a structure that lends itself to humour and critique.
