Rafik Greiss
The Longest Sleep
For his second solo exhibition at Balice Hertling, Rafik Greiss will present photographs, sculptures as well as a new video installation in the gallery’s basement. Greiss’ practice might be described as atmospheric, provocative, and sensual. His works are formally and technically diverse, produced through both digital and analogue techniques or combinations of the two, but it is his “commitment to sensation rather than theme or medium,” says Mitchell Anderson, that “yields a body of work that is cohesively contingent on the ability to recognize one’s own senses.”
Greiss (b. 1997) is an Irish-born Egyptian artist currently based in Paris. His work has been exhibited internationally at venues such as Kunsthalle Zurich (Zurich, 2024), the Swiss Institute (New York, 2023), and Balice Hertling (Paris), among others. His first solo exhibition was held at Galerie Balice Hertling in 2021.
